Christ Church in Brittany
CCB is a collection of 3 churches at Huelgoat, Rostrenen and Ploermel and they have recently expanded to establish a presence at Elgise St Charles in Redon.
When Chris heard that a new priest, Robin Adams, had arrived he wrote to him offering to help and support his initiative to establish a new Anglican Church in Redon. He didn't expect the reply he received which stated that "we" (the church) do not think that homosexuality is natural or healthy.
He addressed his reply to Chris and Rodney though at that stage he had not even met them. Words such as unnatural and unhealthy, and offering a cure are today regarded as homophobic abuse and in many countries and punishable in law.
Chris and Rodney then sought to meet Robin Adams to discuss his views. Chris raised the matter at a Chruch meeting in July which was bizarley and very inappropriately held in a pub.
Robin Adams refused cobbling together a claim that Chris had been rude by not shaking hands with him and went on to bar Chris and Rodney from attending Christ Church in Brittany or meeting with members of the congregation although he has said more recently that "everyone is welcome at Christ Church in Brittany".
A welcome is much more than just words. It must also be an acceptance of Chris and Rodney as partners within the Church.
Appeals by Chris and Rodney to the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Bishop of Lambeth, the Bishop of the Diocese of Europe, the Archdeacon of Europe and the LGBTi Diosesan contact have only produced a wall of silence. A wall of silence that is remarkably similar to the wall of silence which young boys, now men, and who complained that they had been sexually and physically abused by priests. That abuse was the subject of a recent BBC1 Panorama Programme showing that the Church of England has for decades covered up such abuse.
Then followed several attempts by Chris and Rodney to meet Robin Adams. On 28th November they sent a recorded delivery letter and published the invitation on Facebook. Only then did it produce a reply. But Robin Adams said a meeting couldn't happen for the next four months, that is until April 2019. Here is the next part on how Robin Adams avoided a meeting.
